How to use correct punctuation - advice from Juicy Sex Stories.
What is punctuation?
Punctuation is full stops, commas, dashes, speech marks, question marks… It’s the bits in between your words.
Why is correct punctuation important in good sex stories?
Great punctuation helps you connect with your reader. For example full stops and commas tell your reader when to pause so the meaning you want to get over is clear. Exclamation marks add emphasis. And speech marks make it clear that someone is talking.
Full stops, exclamation marks and question marks
Full stops, exclamation marks and question marks break up your sex story. They tell your reader that one idea has stopped and another is going to start.
Here’s an example of poor use of full stops and commas
Patrice was nervous she had never done it before but by just thinking about it her nipples hardened. Slowly she walked over to Sharon’s bed and lay next to her sliding her hands under the silky negligee she began caressing Sharon’s milky white breasts slowly she slipped one tit out and placed the nipples between her fingers she lowered her head taking the nipple into her soft mouth with her right hand as she lowered her left hand into Sharon’s clean shaved pussy and slowly massaged her clit.
And here’s the same erotica with great punctuation. Notice how much easier it is to read.

Three little dots... (Ellipsis)
Use ellipsis to add tension to your eroitica. They are great for making your reader stop and think a little...
Semicolons and colons
Generally you’ll find these less useful when you’re writing sex stories than other punctuation. You can use a semicolon to break a sentence in half; especially when the second half of the sentence explains the first half.
You can use colons to formally introduce lists of things. Also use it for time like 11:59.
Must dash and hyphen
Dashes are a great, contemporary way you can show a shift of thought in your erotica. Here’s an example.
That was enough for me. I had to fuck this girl. My cock needed pleasing - and inside her was where it was going to happen.
Also use dashes to join words together like father-in-law.
Apostrophe
Use apostrophes to join two words into one. The apostrophe goes where the letters are missing.
For example
you are = you're
did not = didn't
could not = couldn't
You also use apostrophes to explain that something belongs to someone else.
For example
'I filled Lily’s glass again, telling her it was making my cock pulse knowing she was sitting there with little on.
Punctuating dialogue
At Juicy sex stories we don’t mind if you use “ or ‘ around your speech as long as you are consistent throughout the story.
Put the words your character actually says inside the speech marks like this...
'Spank me more,' she cries. I make her beg.
'Do you want it?'
'Yes' she cries again, 'spank me, hit me I want it.' Crash after crash comes down on the hot spots of her arse cheeks until her thighs and cheeks are glowing red.
